Maxfree T2 Triple Portable Monitor review

REVIEW – As most everyone knows, many working environments changed as a result of the Covid pandemic, and many employees are working remotely either part-time or full-time. My wife works remotely 100% of the time, and now that summer is coming, she wants to be able to sit outdoors on the deck under the shade and work. In her office, she uses a laptop and 2 24″ extension screens but there is no way that she can take those outside every day. She has been hinting to me for a long time that she wants a couple of small add-on screens for her laptop that would give her enough of a viewing area and be portable. Enter the Maxfree T2 Triple Portable Monitor.

The Maxfree T2 Triple Portable Monitor offers an extended 13.3-inch Screen for a Laptop that is designed to enhance your productivity and creativity by providing a larger and more versatile display. The lightweight and portable monitor that weighs only 3.7 lbs comes with a foldable screen.

The Maxfree T2 Triple Portable Monitor is a foldable, rotating double monitor that adds two 13.3″ screens to your laptop. The controls are on the top of the center main body/section of the screens, and at the bottom of the main section are the USB-C connectivity ports and the TF card slot. At the back of the middle section, there is a flip-out adjustable stand.

Connecting the Maxfree T2 Triple Portable Monitor to the laptop is really easy. Pull apart the spring-loaded sides and clamp them onto the laptop screen, then connect via USB using one of the four options below that works with the ports available on the specific laptop. I used option 1.

It is very easy to install the Maxfree T2 Portable Monitor onto my wife’s laptop. The middle section expands with a spring-like function and then you clamp it onto the laptop screen and squeeze a bit to make sure that it is clamped. This monitor does clamp well to the laptop screen. Then I extended the stand at the back and adjust the leg to support the desired viewing angle. I am not a fan of this type of stand since it does not quite lock in place and on more than one occasion I bumped the laptop resulting in the leg slipping out of place and the laptop then topples over due to the weight of the add-on screens. It is important to note that for today’s very lightweight laptops, these screens are relatively heavy in comparison. Next, I connected via the USB-C cable since my wife’s laptop has a PD USB-C port. The monitors immediately powered on and in seconds appeared in the Windows setting to be configured. The screens are bright and the experience of using them is really nice. I think the value-to-cost consideration is an individual choice. This Maxfree T2 Portable Monitor is more expensive than others that I have tested, but other than the issue with the stand, I like it and so does my wife.

The Maxfree T2 Portable Monitor is well-built and easy to attach to your laptop. The display is really nice, and the ability to connect to the laptop with just one USB-C cable is great. However, I really dislike the design of the support stand, It can be adjusted for height but it can also easily be knocked out of place. I wish it had a locking mechanism that required some effort to unlock it out of place. The device is also likely too heavy for most laptop screens to support it without the stand, so while it is portable, you need a flat and stable surface to use it. It cannot work in your lap for even a short time.
