ASUS microsite for the new Intel 700 series motherboards confirms Intel new series.

ASUS has launched a dedicated website showcasing its latest Z790, H770, and B760 motherboards, with some of them having been recently unveiled at Gamescom. To the surprise of some users, the webpage explicitly confirms that these motherboards are designed for the upcoming Intel 14th Gen Core series, which, as of now, has not been officially announced.

This was spotted by hardware detective @momomo_us, as the ASUS page clearly has title and description naming the new series. Not only that, it also confirms that the 14th Gen Core series will be Refresh of the Raptor Lake CPUs. This has not been a secret for a long time, however neither Intel nor any other board partner have confirmed it.

Despite motherboard manufacturers having hinted at the arrival of the ‘next-gen’ Intel CPU series for several months, the formal announcement is still pending, with Intel slated to make the introduction at the upcoming Innovation 2023 event next month. The reason behind the enthusiasm of board partners in confirming these new CPU series lies in the fact that they utilize the same LGA-1700 socket, ensuring full compatibility through a BIOS update.

It’s noteworthy that Intel has opted not to introduce a Z890 chipset for this generation of desktop CPUs, instead affording motherboard manufacturers the opportunity to refresh their offerings with innovative features and capabilities. This approach allows for a more flexible and adaptable ecosystem for users.

Intel Raptor Lake-S Refresh will be the last Core generation for the LGA-1700 socket. Its successor named Arrow Lake-S is slated for 2024 launch which is then to be followed by Panther Lake-S architecture. The upcoming desktop series will also be the last to use Intel’s old Core i3/i5/i7/i9 naming schema while the company transitions to Core 3/4/5/9 (Ultra) instead.
